Kidmin Thoughts

My thoughts and experiences as a fulltime children's minister and fulltime single mama.

Maybe This is What Childlike Faith Looks Like…

My six year old was baptized yesterday.  I’ve put her off as long as I could. She has a solid faith in Jesus and has been begging for this for months and months.

And this was what happened…

Here’s what I learned about childlike faith…

–  Brenna was so excited about her next step with Jesus she couldn’t contain it.  She was celebrating before baptism even started. And she didn’t care who else was around.  Generally she is pretty reserved around other people.  Even when talking to our pastor about her decision, it was hard to get her to talk out loud.  And then there she is, dancing like crazy.

–  Brenna swam into and out of the baptistry.  I love that. She said her feet didn’t touch the bottom.  But that didn’t stop her or slow her down. She was going to do whatever it took.  How often do we as grown ups let little inconveniences keep us from following God?

–  This is Jesus thing is fun.  Yes, I believe baptism is a serious thing.  But it is fun! It is a celebration.  It represents a life redeemed and changed.  Maybe we should all be dancing like that during baptism!

This is awesome. I love seeing kids get baptized. I believe that is the look of pure unadulterated joy! Congrats to her on taking this next step.
